Earlier this month it was announced that the Government will be providing £40m to aid researchers seeking a cure for dementia.

The contribution is welcome news for Jeremy Hughes of the Alzheimer’s Society, who stated that there have been no significant advancements in finding dementia treatments since the early 2000s.

This investment, along with £250m of further funding from three other sources, will enable the continued development of a new research facility to be hosted at University College London.

The “DRI Hub” will boost current efforts in the pursuit of a cure for the disease, as it will enable recruitment of the best researchers in the field, both home and abroad.

The funding comes as part of the Government’s pledge to increase investment two-fold by 2025.
